Good Grief! I can't believe it's been a month since I've updated. Lauren made me feel guilty last night when she said, "I check your blog everytime I check my email" so unless she only checks her email once a month, she'll be disappointed at the rate I'm going. Hayes is still his old self. Last Friday, we had a mommy and hayes day and we went to dauset trails and had a picnic and looked at all the wildlife. We had such a great time!! When he first saw the otters, he said "those aren't real are they?" i feel as though i've deprived the poor child. We need to make a trip to the zoo. The last time we went, he was 18 mos and had a broken leg. I'm sure he'll appreciate it much more now.

Sam finally got the much needed tubes!! It's amazing how fast the procedure went. We sat in the waiting room maybe 10 minutes and the nurse came and got us. Of course it was quite pitiful watching him wake up from the anesthesia. He just cried and cried and cried! When we got home, he had a bottle(advised by the nurse) and then took a nap. When he woke up, he was the happiest baby alive. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. We went outside and we rode around the block in his car. After lunch and another bottle (all advised by the nurse after me questioning milk products after anesthesia).. Around 3:00, he started throwing up, throwing up, throwing up! It really scared me after the first 30 minutes of nonstop vomiting. I called kevin to come home with some pedialyte and called the doc. They just said, " keep trying pedialyte and call back if he doesn't get better." I didn't have a chance to get pedialyte ready for him before the gagging began again. Needless to say, my heart was broken. After a two hour nap in mommy's arms, he woke up a brand new baby. We are assuming it was the anesthesia, milk, and "junk" that may have drained to his stomach from his ears. I should have followed my gut not to give him milk. Don't mommies know best anyway??

Haysism of the day - "mommy your belly looks funny", why hayes? "because it's fat'!!! I asked him what fat meant and he said "i don't know"...which made me feel a little better!! that turkey!

a little while later..... "mommy, your tummy isn't fat and i love you"

that made up for everything!

Flat tire

Yesterday, while pulling out of the driveway, Kevin noticed he had a flat tire so he came inside to tell me. I asked "Where's Hayes?" and Kevin replied, "He's outside in the garage." I went and looked out the window and this is what we saw.....Hayes pumping Daddy's tire up. Bless his little heart! It really almost made me cry. He had gone in the garage and gotten the ball pump and "hooked" it to daddy's tire and was pumping fiercely but didn't understand why the tire wasn't "getting bigger." Daddy thanked Hayes for his extremely hard work in the case and Hayes was just happy knowing he did his best to help!

Sam is signing more and more. As of two days ago, he signs "light", "milk", "all-done", "more". His favorite thing to look at now is a baby picture of his and he says.."BaBa"

He is definitely on the road to walking. He will pull up and stand for a while by himself but I just don't think he has the confidence to walk. He does great while we are holding his hands. We hope to hear today when he gets tubes.

Last night, while Obama was speaking on healthcare, Kevin was "talking back" to him and Hayes simply looked at Kevin and said "Daddy, he can't hear you." It was great!

More Ear Trouble

Well, today was our appt with the ENT, Dr.Correa. Sam has been feeling pretty cruddy all weekend. He will feel great one minute and horrible the next. They did a hearing test on him and he "failed", the audiologist said it's likely due to all the fluid in his ears. We then see Dr.Correa who says his ears look "horrible". He seems to really think that tubes are the answer instead of continuing Sam on antibiotics as he is becoming resistant. We have done amoxicillin, augmentin, omnicef and now septra. Needless to say, we've been feeding him lots and lots of yogurt! Tomorrow we go for a shot of Rocephin. Hopefully, that will knock it out! Hayes had a great day at school today. He "actually" (his new favorite word) got a super smiley face and I asked him what that meant and he said " actually, it means I super behaved." He's too much for me! I love them so much!

Today as I picked Hayes up from school, his teacher told me that Hayes is teaching his class his "Jesus" song. I love this kid! His faith in Jesus is unsurpassable already. Every time we get into the car he wants me to play "He is Mighty to Save" on my Ipod...Bless his heart, he knows all the words. Every night before we go to bed, we have to read Bible stories, per him. His favorite Bible story is David and Goliath, and Noah and the Ark. I will ask him if he wants me to turn his night light on, and he'll say "No, Mommy. Jesus will be with me all night." It's amazing what we can learn from our children. Yes, Jesus is with us always!.
Sam's favorite thing to do now is yell (yes, i said yell) at Max. We can't walk by the window without him talking to him. We now have 6 teeth. Another popped through today. So now the count is 3 on top, 3 on bottom. He started running fever Saturday and with the runny nose, I just thought it was something viral and I would let it run its course since he was on antibiotics for ear infection the week before. Needless to say, Wednesday still fever and took him in to see Dr.Jason. We have a double ear infection. This is number 8! We have a consult with the ENT, Dr.Correa on Tuesday for tubes. I hope and pray this will relieve his poor little ears. He signs a good bit now. Mostly "light" and "all done"...Its so cute when he does this.
Daddy comes home tonight from being at Yellowstone all week trout fishing. He had a great time, for which I am thankful; however, I'm so ready for him to be home!!

Hayes and Sam have been wonderful for mommy while Daddy is in Montana for a week on a fishing trip! Friday night we stayed in and mommy had a date night with 2 of her 3 favorite men. Mimi came over to spend the night but it turned out to be very uneventful, thank goodness! Saturday we went to Mimi and Pop's and spent the day. Hayes had a great time looking for treasure in the woods in their backyard. It's always amazing what he seems to find. Sam was running fever all day and not feeling well at all. We spent the night over there Saturday night and again, a very uneventful night, thank goodness! So Sunday we come home and Sam still runs fever all day. All the while Hayes is being the best big brother and so understanding when mommy has to tend to all of Sam's needs!! He's the best at entertaining himself. Daddy called and said he was having a great time but hated Sam is sick and wishes he was here to help. He says fly fishing is much different than his regular fishing. He seems to think I would like it. Today we spent the day at home again playing games, ball, and being outside. Sam is much better today. Not quite sure what was going on. Oh by the way, he has had 7 ear infections...ouch! Dr.Jason said we won't talk tubes until he's a year old. I thought breastfed babies weren't supposed to have as many? Sam also has 5 teeth now and 1 just about to pop through. Maybe that's why he's been a little grumpy. Well, it's time to go brush Hayes' teeth and read books. Hopefully another uneventful night :)

Seacrest Beach

We went to Seacrest beach last week with my parents, sister and her family. It was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better weather. I was worried that my little daredevil Hayes would want to swim to Cuba; however, he didn't like the thought of even sticking his toes in the water. We tried all sorts of bribes to get him in the ocean, none of them worked. He was happy playing in the sand and running around the tent. I know he had to be so hot. I couldn't handle being down at the beach and not get in the water. Sam on the other hand loved whatever we were doing at any given moment. He's such a doll. I asked Hayes what his favorite part of going to the beach was and he said "watching tv".......I was hoping the boys' sleep schedule would be out of whack in my favor but needless to say, Sam was up every morning at 6 am on the dot while Hayes was not far behind because of the noise that was made. Thank goodness Mimi is an early bird because she allowed Kevin and I to go back to sleep after her coffee was fixed. Very important! Sam enjoyed his Mimi time. Usually by the time we woke up at about 7:30, Sam was already taking his morning nap. It didn't matter what time he went to bed, 6 am called his name each day. We were lucky to get Hayes to take a nap everyday. They were much needed by lunch time. He had so much fun playing with Landon and McKenna. Kevin went fishing with Daddy and Jason and had a great time. They caught fish that were too big to keep. We were disappointed because we were looking forward to cooking fresh fish...They were proud though, to say they were "too big" to keep. The "guys" including Hayes and Landon went to play golf one day, too. Hayes enjoyed the golf cart ride mostly. Of course, we had a girls day out which included big man Sam. Kevin wasn't feeling too well the day we went so I thought I'd help by taking Sam with us. He's such a little trooper. He didn't make a peep all day. It was a great day to shop because it rained most of the day. We had such a good time and are ready to go back next year, same place~

Haysism of the day: "if you don't love Jesus, you have to go to jail"

A Day at the Lake

Since we got a new boat, we have taken every opportunity to go to the lake. Hayes loves it so much! His favorite thing to do is watch his cousins wakeboard while he stands on the dock. He also likes to jump off the dock and swim "so fast". Sam does great, too! As you can see, he has the perfect setup in the boat where it's breezy and shady! The DNR rode by a few times, but didn't see him. We got lucky. His life jacket is close by hanging on the pack n play. On the way home, both Hayes and Sam were exhausted, as were mommy and daddy. We went this weekend with Honey, Jason, Landon and McKenna. We all had a great time!!
